Ive lived in Ferndale for over 20 years and have been coming to the Fly Trap for at least the last 12 years. Until now I havent really left a review I think I didnt want too many people to learn about my favorite spot as its already so popular it can be a challenge getting in! My favorite thing here is the green eggs and ham. Its loaded with cheese as you can see in the video I posted. I tell everybody this is the only place serving breakfast potatoes that do not require ketchup It is seasoned perfectly. The coffee is great and the fresh squeezed orange juice is also wonderful. The decor is funky and artsy and eclectic. That makes for a great vibe. They serve stuff other than breakfast and its good but the breakfast always keeps me coming back. Try it for yourself I think youll love it.
I was visiting from out of town and met family here for breakfast. I really enjoyed the location, decor, and salt shakers. Each table has their own unique shakers. The service was my biggest issue. Our server gave very little eye contact. On top of that she made us feel a bit out of place. Id try them out again because my Aunt enjoyed her food.
I hadn't been to the Fly Trap in awhile and was thrilled to see they'd upped their vegan game by making it possible to get nearly all vegetarian items prepared vegan. The food was good as was the service, even though it was a busy weekend day! I'm not sure how recent the expansion is, but it's bigger than the last time I went too,which helped make getting seated a bit faster.
Food is great, top notch quality control on every plate served! Good service, nice dining area and ambiance. Poor choice on location, probably the best they could get when they started...
The Fly Trap is probably one of the only restaurants in the area that is actually worth the wait time. Their orange juice is on point, and the Slacker Especial breakfast (eggs, black beans, tortilla chips, cheddar cheese, served with garlic potatoes and toast) is one of many very filling dishes on the menu. Be sure to sample their in-house hot sauces for some extra pick-me-up in the morning. Great spot for a brunch date.
