I wasn't sure what to expect because I've never had Peruvian fare, but this place exceeded expectations on every level. From flavor, to portion size, this place does not disappoint. Please give them your money!
Excellent food, good prices! This place has flavorful food and awesome deserts. You can't go wrong with the what's on the menu or what the specials are.
I've been waiting five years for an authentic Peruvian restaurant to hit the Detroit area. Culantro is the real deal. Peruvian chicken is the star. The coal roasted chicken is to die for. Make sure you get the green sauce! I always get the salad and steak fries as my sides. Try an Inca Cola or one of the authentic Peruvian beverages for the total experience.
The foods fantastic! However I'm giving this restaurant 4 stars, but could easily get to 5 if they'd get their service better organized. They have you buy food and tip before you sit then you just hope they get it out to you timely (fingers crossed). A big potential problem is they can sell food to people when there's no tables available. I foresee that being a major issue on busy days. Especially for those who travel a ways to come to the only Peruvian joint in Michigan.
Our Peruvian son in law was fascinated with everything. He felt like he was in a real Peruvian restaurant. Chicharron sandwich and all of the different sauces were very tasty. And our server, who was Russian was also very good! We will definitely be making the drive up again from Toledo to enjoy a taste of home for him.
